Wedding Gown Trends

Ok. So, I took a little vacation from my blog due to my busy schedule with "The Full Monty". Great show. Very heartwarming. I'm going to miss all my friends. Some, more than most. :/

Regardless, I have not been far from the wedding scene as I have been working on an alteration for a February 2010 bride. This dress has inspired this blog because of its unique, cowl neckline. This is the first I've ever seen, and it is fabuluous.

2010 spring wedding gown trends focus on the neckline. No longer do brides have the option of going strapless, sleeveless, or cap sleeved. There are many more additions, and creative ways brides can make their dress unique, just by altering the neckline of their gown in very easy ways.

One way to do this is to add a strap to one side of the shoulder. If the dress is strapless, find some flowers or pretty lace, bold or subtle whichever your preference, and have your seamstress attach it at your next fitting. If the dress isn't strapless, have your seamstress remove one strap, and dress up the other. Another neckline trend is the illusion neckline. Again, you may have a strapless, or sweetheart neckline, and can add straps with a mesh, or "see through" type of material. Another way to alter your neckline is with a coverup. Early spring brides may choose to wear a balero, or shrug to keep warm. If a bride wants to be a little more bold, she can go with a couture coverup. DavidsBridal.com often has a few options. I chose a black faux fur stole from David's for my April 2007 wedding. I had a black and white themed wedding and I only wish I wore it for more of the day!
